Union Chapel was host to a charity concert held for Refugees who have fled ISIS (DAESH) terror, on the 8th of January 2016, Friday, at 19:00pm.

Musicians from Turkey, Iran and England – Steve Coghlan, Tahir Palali, Habib M. Boushehri, Arash Moradi and Cidgem Aaslan – will be playing in the gig to provide essentials for refugees; clothes, food, medicine ect.

The night began with an opening performance by Steve Coughlan, playing some of his greatest songs, followed by performances by Tahir, Palali, Habib M Bousehri, Cigdem Aslan and Arash Moradi.

Representatives from various organisations and parties made short speeches about the situation in the Kurdish Regions, the importance of the benefit gig and what more can be done.

“I am a barrister, human rights lawyer and a patrian of peace in Kurdistan… I am in love with the Kurds…[…]… I am angry with my government for [not doing anything about it,” said Margaret Owen.

Green party’s prominent member, Derek Wall, had this to say: “[The Kurds are being massacred and the world is watching.”

Various activists – largely Kurdish – spoke to  the audience about their experiences in the Kurdish regions, and about the troubles of raising money.

Representative, Estella, from the Organising group, Kurdish Red Moon, spoke to Londra gazete of the success of the event: “A lot of money was raised; all the photos, for instance, were sold in the auction (which gave a close to the night)”.

All profits generated during the concert will be donated to the charity Kurdish Red Cross, who will transport the help to refugee camps in Shengal and Kobane.
