HUNDREDS OF ALEVI believers have attended a ‘Peace Day’ at the Alevi Culture Centre and Cemevi in Dalston, London, last Thursday (29 November).
The day which is held for those who are not talking to one another to make peace, pray saw hundreds of adults and children attend and practice their faith.
Mustafa Mısır Dede who lead the event saw Head of the Alevi Culture Centre and Cemevi Tugay Hürman and members of the Cemevi attend as well.
An announcement made by the Cemevi explained that when Alevi’s practice their faith, women, men and children all practice together and then make peace before beginning ‘Cem’.
Officials of the Cemevi spoke and said: “The faith of Cem has an important aspect which separates it from other beliefs. This is that in Cem they must give an explanation to members of the community. The people in Cem must also make sure they give their blessings to one another and state they are satisfied with each other.
The talk continued and officials added: “If one person in Cem is upset with another person, then until these two people have made peace with one another, Cem cannot begin. The practicing of Cem must happen in the presence of an elderly man/a Granddad. With Cem renewal takes place. It is not possible to complete Cem quickly. Cem is a place of blessing, everything is done with a blessing. Food is eaten with a blessing, service is given with a blessing.”
The British Alevi Culture Centre and Cemevi, also reminded believers that they come together the last Thursday of every month to practice Cem.
