DAY-MER HAS CALLED out to the government in a plea to help the refugees and their basic needs, they said: “Open the borders, take in the refugees!”

Last week Day-Mer officials went to Calais, France to visit the refugee camp there to see the struggles and difficulties of those who have fled their countries which are civil war and are trying to take shelter in Europe. They witnessed the circumstances they are living in, most of which are fighting to survive and were informed that many have died after freezing to death near the border of Europe.

Following Day-Mer’s call, tens of people came together at the London Community Centre in Tottenham, North London, where they listened to the officials from Day-Mer. They explained what life is like in the Calais Refugee Camp and listeners have began to support the campaign in helping the refugees.

THEY DON’T HAVE DRINKING WATER

Women, men, children and elderly, they make up the thousand of people who are living in conditions that no human should be made to live in. They are the refugees in the Calais Refugee Camps and are fighting to survive. The camp which is in a forest, has no clean water, no shelter, bathroom or any of the basic needs any person requires to live. Almost 5,000 people are living in the camp, most of which who are young men and among them are women and children too. The port of Calais, where many train and boat journeys are made to England is just 34 kilometers away from Dover. The five thousand people are the camp will risk their lives to secretly try and board one of the train or boat journey’s.
