The Atatürk Thought Association UK is organizing a solidarity evening in London to support education on the second anniversary of the February 6 earthquake disaster. The event will take place on Friday, 28 February 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Angel hotel, featuring educator and author Dilek Livaneli as a guest speaker.

An Inspiring Night for Earthquake Survivors

In their announcement, the association stated, “Although two years have passed since the great disaster on 6 February 2023, the wounds have not yet fully healed. To bring hope to our student survivors and contribute to their education, we are organizing an event titled ‘Be a Hope for the Future in an Inspiring Night.'”

All proceeds from the evening will be donated as scholarships to earthquake-affected students through the “One Wish Is Not Enough” education project. The association emphasized, “Our primary goal is for our youth to receive a secular education in line with Atatürk’s principles and thoughts. Education builds the future of a country, and every support brings our youth one step closer to their dreams.”

Dilek Livaneli: Lives Changed Through the Power of Education

Renowned for her contributions to education in disadvantaged regions of Turkey and recognized with international awards, educator Dilek Livaneli will share her experiences at the event. “This will not just be a story; it will be a reflection of determination, sacrifice, and hope,” Livaneli said, conveying the transformative impact of education on individuals and society.

Each attendee will receive a copy of Dilek Livaneli’s book, “One Wish Is Not Enough,” as a gift. Participants will have the opportunity to have their books signed and engage in a personal conversation with the author.

A Significant Step to Support Earthquake Survivors

In December 2024, during Dilek Livaneli’s educational tours in the earthquake-affected regions, young individuals continuing their education under challenging conditions were identified. Collaborations with universities led to the creation of a list of students most in need.

Everyone attending or supporting by purchasing a ticket will contribute to these young individuals’ education. The association stated, “Even if you cannot attend the event, you can support by purchasing a ticket. Each ticket is a step towards a student’s dreams.”
