A farewell program for renowned journalist Faruk Zabcı will be held in London at Shacklewell Mosque, Shacklewell Lane, E8 2BY, from 12- 2pm on Tuesday 8th October. Friends and colleagues wishing to bid farewell to Zabcı in London are invited to attend the mosque during these hours.
The funeral in Istanbul will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Levent Afet Yolal Mosque, with the burial following the noon prayer. As per Zabcı’s wishes, he will be laid to rest beside his mother.
Faruk Zabcı, a journalist residing in London, passed away at the age of 77 on the morning of September 27 after suffering a heart attack. Known for his impactful reports from conflict zones around the world, Zabcı was a trailblazer in his field, covering crises from Bosnia and Kosovo to Afghanistan and Iraq. In addition to serving as the London correspondent for Hürriyet, he gained recognition for his on-the-ground reporting from numerous global hotspots.
Born in Istanbul in 1947, Zabcı graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1968. He received the prestigious Burhan Felek Press Service Award in 2020 and held a Permanent Press Card. Zabcı is survived by his child.
