The project “An Evening of Poetry and Jazz with Selçuk Yöntem” will have its world premiere on the evening of Monday, September 9th, at the prestigious Cadogan Hall in London, England.
Produced by the Sadri Alışık Cultural Center and Piu Entertainment, the “Evening of Poetry and Jazz with Selçuk Yöntem” project will blend jazz music and poetry. Following its premiere, the project will be performed throughout the season in Turkey and Europe.
Selçuk Yöntem was born on July 13, 1953, in Eyüp, Istanbul, to a mother from Erzurum and a father from Sakarya. He graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory’s High Theatre Department between 1975 and 1976. Yöntem began working at the Ankara State Theatre in 1977, directing İrfan Yalçın’s play Aşağıdakiler in 1994 and Savaş Dinçel’s play Gürültülü Patırtılı Bir Hikâye in 1995, for which he received the “Commendable Director” award.
In addition to his theatre work, he also performed in radio plays prepared by TRT Istanbul Radio.
Yöntem has worked on television and cinema projects, receiving the “Best Supporting Actor” award for his role in the film C Blok. He gained further recognition for his character Bozo in the TV series and film Deli Yürek and later for his role as Aslan Akbey in the 2003 TV series Kurtlar Vadisi.
In 2008, he played one of the leading roles, Adnan Ziyagil, in the popular TV series Aşk-ı Memnu, which aired on Kanal D.
He hosted the quiz show Büyük Risk, which aired over 400 episodes, initially on Star TV and later on Show TV.
In 2013, Yöntem portrayed Ata Katipoğlu in the TV series Bugünün Saraylısı on ATV. From 2014 to 2017, he hosted the quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
In 2017, he played the character Melih Pasha in the American-Turkish co-production film The Ottoman Lieutenant, directed by Joseph Ruben and written by Jeff Stockwell.
