President of the European Turkish Brands Association (ATMB) Vehbi Keleş, and President of the Turkish World Agriculture Union Doğan Başaran, convened in London to discuss the future of agriculture and strategic collaborations in this sector.
Keleş emphasized the increasing importance of food security and agriculture, highlighting the impacts of the pandemic, Brexit, and various international crises. He underscored the significance of the Turkish World Agriculture Union in this context.
Keleş stressed the critical need to protect fertile agricultural lands, noting, “Preserving productive fields is essential not only for ensuring food security but also for maintaining the sustainability of rural areas. Unfortunately, many fertile lands are being replaced by buildings and urban development, negatively impacting rural ecosystems and reducing our agricultural production capacity.”
Keleş highlighted the importance of the meeting in discussing the future steps for agriculture, expressing his belief that collaborative efforts with Başaran would significantly contribute to their agricultural policies and projects.
Başaran recognized the strong network of the ATMB in the UK, pointing out the strategic importance of connecting Turkish World agricultural production with the UK’s post-Brexit market opportunities. He noted, “The Turkish World Agriculture Union aims to utilize the agricultural power of the 180 million-strong Turkish states to facilitate the export of food products and guide Turkish businesspeople in investment initiatives within the UK.”
