THE Turkish Cypriot Youth and Family Association (KTGAB) president Nafiya Horozoğlu attended the 1st Diaspora Youth Forum of the Organization of Turkish States(OTS) in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus(TRNC).
The forum was held between 26 – 28 September and brought together members of the OTS and young people in the diaspora of observer countries. While bonding events and panels were organized among the participants, young people also visited the martyrs’ cemeteries, Heydar Aliyev Center and Military Trophies Park.
On the forum’s opening day, Tuesday, September 26, a panel titled “Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World” was held. The next day, Wednesday, September 27, a workshop on cooperation issues was held.
In her speech at the panel, Horozoğlu gave information about the activities of the KTGAB and the work of Turks in the diaspora. Saying “I would like to thank everyone who organized this meaningful event, especially the OTS. This event is of great importance in bringing together young leaders from all over the Turkic world. The theme of today’s panel is ‘Heydar Aliyev and the Turks “‘ World’ has a deep meaning to me, and I’m delighted to share my thoughts on it.”
Horozoğlu emphasized that the OTS plays an important role in promoting comprehensive cooperation among Turkish states.
Emphasized that the platform offered by the OTS to young people is full of opportunities to share experiences, collaborate on common goals and shape the future of nations, and stated that, as young Turkish Cypriots, they are equipped with basic principles. She stated that these basic principles teach us that it is our duty to carry the Turkish heritage with honour, to take great pride in the existence of the TRNC to protect it
Finally, promising to contribute to unity, security and prosperity, Horozoğlu said that they will strengthen young diaspora members under the unifying role of organizations such as the OTS, and together, they will declare to the whole world: “Turkish states are strong and united, Turkish Cypriots exist and will last forever.”
