THE Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi UK are preparing to celebrate the harmonious dance of differences by bringing together social diversity, peace and hope with the Ashura event that will be held on Sunday, August 6 at 1pm.
Ashura is a unique tradition that symbolizes the spirit of sharing and solidarity in Alevi culture throughout history. In this special event, the Alevi community living in England and other participants from different faiths will come together and display a unity that embraces diversity in accordance with the spirit of Ashura.
İAKM expressed the meaning of Ashura saying: “Our Ashura is the people, it is pluralism, it is multi-coloured… Wealthy, Wealthless, titleless, men and women are all one. The taste obtained in the variety of different nuts in aşure will be enjoyed in our social diversity. ”
The event which is open to all members of the community will take place in north London from 1pm at the Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi headquarters in 19 Clarendon Road, London N8 0D.
