THE Ataturk Society UK (ASUK) shared a statement on March 18 celebrating the 108th anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Battles.
in the statement, it said: ” March 18 is the day when the hopes of the Turkish people blossomed. It is the day that sheds light on the birth of the spirit of the National Struggle…. Mustafa Kemal, who changed the course of the war with his great foresight and military genius in Çanakkale, did not turn from the way he believed, despite resigning from the military when he started the National Struggle…”
Adding “We commemorate the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the hero of Çanakkale, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and all our martyrs and veterans who gave their lives for their homeland in that war, with respect and mercy. We promise once again that we will resolutely continue our struggle to repay them our debt of gratitude; and we say: The Spirit of Çanakkale is still standing today!”
