ALEVI organizations gathered together in front of the Turkish Embassy in London, protesting the establishment of a new public agency to coordinate Alevi places of worship by the Turkish government.
The British Alevi Federation and the Cemevi together with a large number of people from the Alevi community in London gathered in front of the Turkish Embassy in London and protested against the new agency.
Holding banners and signs with slogans such as “We will not be Alevis of the State”, “We are Alevis, we are right, we will win”, and “Cemevi are our places of worship” were chanted. BAF Co-Chairs Dilek İncedal and İbrahim Has made spoke at the protest.
Saying, “We Alevis; Like Imam Hussein in Karbala, Hünkar in Anatolia, Pir Sultan in Banaz, Shah Kalender in Nurhak, we neither give up our faith nor turn from our path. The Husseini stance inherited from Karbala is our motto. For years, the political power now has to see, understand and apply this. There are Alevis, Alevis are here and Alevism is a right.”
After the speeches, a black wreath was laid at the gate of the Turkish Embassy, accompanied by applause and slogans.
