Naudel Turner was murdered in Tottenham in March this year
A man who stalked and killed a Tottenham woman after she ended their relationship was this week jailed for life.
Dariusz Miakienko, 47, had been following 42-year-old Naudel Turner for several months before he confronted her in the street in Bruce Grove.
The two had met at the local GP surgery where she worked. He then started to stalk her, bombarding her with text messages and calls.
Ms Turner had just left work on 19 March this year when he caught up alongside her and witnesses say she was heard to shout “leave me alone”.
As she pulled out her mobile phone, Miakienko pushed her against a fence and attacked her with a kitchen knife. He forced her to the ground and stabbed her in the neck and body twenty times.
A passenger in a car being driven along the road, jumped our and pleaded with Miakienko to stop but he continued the attack. Witnesses have reported that once he stopped attacking Ms Tuner he was seen to stand near her body and roll a cigarette.
Miakienko was detained with the help of an off-duty police officer and members of the public, but Ms Turner died whilst being taken to hospital by ambulance.
Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh said: “Naudel was murdered simply because Miakienko could not cope with her rejection of him. He stalked her over many months.
“Miakienko is a cold and callous man who has robbed her sons of a mother and a community of a dedicated and hard working woman.
“I would like to thank those brave members of the public who stepped in, alongside one of our off duty police officers, and detained Miakienko. It must have been terrifying to see such a violent attack at lunchtime on a busy street.”
He was sentenced to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison.
