Hasan Dervish, 62, was given a unique send off, with a number of ice cream trucks seen following behind the main funeral car.

His brother Savash Turkel paid tribute to Hasan on social media, uploading an image alongside a short written tribute, saying  ‘Rest in eternal peace my brother. King of the ice cream’.

Turkel spoke about his brother in an interview with sky News saying “It was a passion for him. He had always worked as an ice cream man, and he went on to set up an ice cream factory in Lewisham in the early 2000s.

“He was very popular among customers and other ice cream men, if it wasn’t for the pandemic I think lots more ice cream men would have been part of the procession.

“He was a well-loved family man, a good father, and he was loved by everybody he met.”

It comes after video footage recorded the unique procession of Mr Whippys and others playing their musical chimes as they drive along behind a funeral cortege.

The clip was recorded on the way to a cemetery in Camberwell, south London has been view over 10 million times.
