Tuncalı will time in London end officially on the first of August, returning to her post in the TRNC before her retirement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after 37 years at the end of this year.
In a statement ahead of her leaving she said: “Valuable members of the Turkish Cypriot Community, my dear brothers and sisters,
“With great enthusiasm and honour, I retire from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the end of the year, to which I have been a member for 37 years, as required by law, I will return to my country as of August. It has always been a great source of pride for me to take office in three different periods in our London Representative Office, which is one of the important and challenging missions of our state. Even though it is difficult to leave our dear brothers and sisters, we will continue on our way with the understanding that “every task that ends includes a new beginning” as I have stated in previous job changes.
“In my first foreign assignment in London, I was the first female Consul General of our country in 1998. It was a very meaningful coincidence for me that my last foreign mission was again in London, and it was also very valuable in terms of morale. During the three different periods I worked in London, we shared a lot and had many friendships. We will never forget the great love, respect and support that you, our dear brothers and sisters, have shown me and my family. The works, achievements and memories here will always be in a very special and special place in our hearts.
“Many thanks to all of our organizations who work voluntarily in our Community, with which we work and cooperate together with, and to our “Communal Volunteers Army”, in short, to each and every one of you.
“Many thanks to all the valuable members of our British Parliament Friendship Group, with whom we are regular travel companions, past and present.
“Many thanks to all the Ambassadors of the Republic of Turkey in London and the members of the Embassy, who always show us their sincere support and work with us.
“Many thanks to all the members of the press we work with, who convey our news and statements to our society.
“Finally, we would like to thank our members who we work with at our Representative Office.
“And many thanks to my dear family for their endless support and patience.
“The period of approximately 11 years of my professional life, which has reached 37 years in the field of diplomacy, was spent in London with you. I hope that we will meet again either in our island country or in this island country in the coming periods.
“Our hearts are always with you. Stay with love, Stay healthy, Goodbye.”
