Mini-heatwave set for the bank holiday weekend 

The three-day weekend is set to see mercury peak at 25 C.

The warm weather and sunshine are welcomed after what is set to be the wettest May on record.

Brits have been enjoying the nicer weather since mid-week but over the weekend temperatures are set to rise higher.

Today will see some spots of rain in the west most areas will stay dry and temperatures will rise to above 20 C in some regions.

But as the weekend goes on Brits can look forward to soaring ‘above average’ temperatures in the mid-20s in some areas, particularly in the south east.

Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin said: “Plenty more fine and sunny weather to come as we go through the long Bank Holiday weekend.

He said: “For most, it’s going to be much warmer than it has been. Temperatures above average even in some places.”

And temperatures will continue to rise with highs of up to 25 C forecast on Monday.

With the sunnier weather, the Met Office warned: “The sun though will be strong, UV levels will be high or even very high come Sunday and Monday so just be aware of that.”
