Turkish Cypriot couple make it onto the ‘Rich List 2020’

Every year The Sunday Times newspaper’s publishes it’s Rich List’, listing the 1000 richest people living in the UK.

From the Queen to the founder of Dyson, 1000 names of people and families along with their worth and source of it are listed.

This year, the Turkish Cypriot couple Mustafa and Fatma Kiamil, owner of the food wholesaler Food JJ Foods, entered the list as a new entry at number 923 with fortunes of £ 130 million. The Kiamil couple ranked 936 in 2016.

The Sunday Times wrote that after working in the family restaurant of the Kiamil couple, opened a hamburger store in 1982 and then turned it into a chain and opened a wholesaler because they could not find a good food wholesaler. The couple, who opened the food wholesalers named JJ Foods in London in 1988, reached 11 branches across the country and its customers include cafes, hotels, fast food restaurants, schools and hospitals.

Mustafa Kiamil, CEO of JJ Food Service, was selected as the most successful Turkish Cypriot business person of 2019 at the gala night organised by the  Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations (CTCA) last year. The award winners included fashion designer Hüseyin Çağlayan, Baroness Meral Hüseyin-Ece, Actor Tamer Hassan and Liverpool Football Club Rhian Brewster, who played in England’s Under-21 National Team.
