Under a new plan what will be proposed to the council, many of the poorest household in the borough could be exempt from paying council tax.
The current system which was introduced in 2013, means claimants are entitled to an 80% reduction if they are of working age and with children.
The system has help over 6,000 families on low-income in Haringey where around 35% of Haringey’s children live in poverty.
In the upcoming meet on Tuesday 14th August the cabinet members will be considering the proposal and decide to approve a 10 week public consultation on the proposed plan.
This new proposal also will look at claimants who do not have children to be include in the tax exemption.
