AS the elections in Turkey are approaching, we asked the citizens in London their thoughts about the election results which will occur on 24 June 2018. The feedback we received emphasized that the presidential elections will be determined on the second round and comments were made about the current dilemma in Turkey’s economy.

If the elections in Turkey occur under normal circumstance, Muharrem Ince has a great chance of winning the presidential elections in the second round. However, I am quite sceptical due to the transport voting system and it is very likely that certain tricks may happen. The depreciation of the Turkish lira has affected us of course, especially from a commercial point of view. For example, we transport plastic from Turkey and we have been notified that the sellers are increasing 10 percent of the prices for the products we buy.

I think the Republican People’s Party will obtain a successful outcome in the elections which will take place on 24 June, till this day there has been various candidates however Muharrem Ince is a very ambitious candidate. We have a large number of citizens who are claiming to support Muharrem Ince, who is a candidate which is open to everyone. Thus, I do not think AKP will succeed in this election.
Mustafa Kemal
I’m hoping that the following elections will bring peace instead of disturbance, I want harmony and no conflict, and I want the poor to find bread also unity and order in our country. Our relationship with foreign countries should be better. As a result, everyone should love one another, the poor should be treated and I wish the best for our troops.
Memiş Şenpalik
Looking at the current electoral flow, I think Muharrem Ince is ahead and once we begin to examine the situation, we can perceive that Ince has a high chance of winning. But this situation will change if Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attempts to steal votes. I also don’t think the presidential election will be completed in the first round, it will definitely complete in the second round.

On the follow up in London, we can see that at the moment AKP is not very strong in England, according to my personal views, CHP has selected its best candidate so far. Muharrem Ince has brought with himself mass support both in Turkey and England. In addition, Kilicdaroğlu has especially applied a good strategy in the last period with certain choices he has made. The country’s economy is getting worse and this government is failing to manage the country.
Ali
Turkey is entering a very bad and dark depression, the economy has collapsed completely and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has violated people’s human rights for 16 years. I’m hoping for this election to bring someone to the administration which will protect and defend human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Turkey is currently as called as a free and just state, but that’s not the case because these values no longer exist in Turkey.

The current situation in Turkey is vague and people are getting poorer day by there. Others have been brought to our homeland whilst our children have graduated and are unemployed. The dilemmas in the currency have not affected me as I live here, the system here provides us with the necessary support. I have been a supporter of CHP ever since I hope the election results will be beneficial for Turkey.
