THE opening ceremony for the Alevi festival was held on Monday, and the Enfield Mayor Saray Karakuş, British Alevi Federation President Israfil Erbil, famous actor Mehmet Ali Alabora, Cemevi committee members and various other associations and community members attended.
In the opening speech of the festival Enfield Mayor Saray Karakuş said:
“We are very happy that within our municipality such events are happening and we would like to increase the number of such cultural organisations in our municipality.”
Israfil Erbil also underlined the significance of uniting together and portray this unification throughout the 8-day long festival program and invited everyone to the festival on Sunday.
The 8th Alevi Festival will be held on Sunday, 3 June at Hackney Downs Park this year. It is known to be one of Europe’s biggest Alevi festival whereby, people from various ethnic backgrounds attend.
A muhabbet cem will take place on Thursday, 31 May at 18:00 and also on Friday, 1 June at 13:00 at the Alevi cultural centre and Cemevi located at Woodgreen.
