WOMEN gathered in front of the ‘Enfield Mayor, Memorial Plaque’ on Palmers Green for International Women’s Day and made a protest speech with the intention of reminding them of the labour shown today in acquiring existing rights and wanting to see more women in parliament.

Speaking on the program organised by Palmers Green Triangle for ‘World Women’s Day’, Cllr Yasemin Brett, mentioned the significance of the Palmers Green region especially in winning women’s electoral and voting rights:

“Especially in the 1900s, Palmers Green was a major point in getting women elected and elected, and there are secret houses where many women are gathered during the struggle. These streets are always struggled on these streets. For this reason, we are gathered here to remind this struggle and to remind people of the importance of the struggle. There are many rights women earn in the world. However, today our women are not using these rights unfortunately. Now, there are elections and women must be in higher positions and in parliament. From here women are calling. ”

Another name among the participants of the program was Enfield Council Member and Education Minister Cllr Ayfer Orhan. Regretfully, Orhan stated that women are not in the places they still want,

“While you seem to have obtained many rights at the time, in fact many institutions have inequality and illegality. We are fighting for them, and we will continue to do so. I hope we can see more women among us in the elections. ”

At the event were all three of Enfield MP’s; Southgate’s Bambos Charalambous, Enfield North’s  Joan Ryan and Edmonton’s Kate Osamor joined the event and ended with a reception at the Palmers Green Library.
