MCDONALD’s is to give its staff their highest pay rise in ten years, after last year’s remarkable strikes which consisted of a short number of employees requesting for a higher pay and improved working conditions.
McDonald’s UK has declared to hand its workers the biggest pay increase on ten years.
This will happen on January 22 this year and only applies for company-owned McDonald’s restaurants.
McDonald’s has accepted that the wages will increase and from now, 16 year olds will join on a minimum wage of £5.75, and employees over the age of 25 will receive £8 per hour.
There are roughly 85,000 employees working for McDonald’s in the UK. A representative said: “Reward and recognition for our people and their contribution is a key priority, and to ensure we can attract and retain the best people, we regularly review pay and benefits.
“While our franchisees set their own pay rates, we have recommended an increase across all age bands for our hourly employees to be implemented from 22 January.”
