Arthur Collins jailed for 20 years over acid attack

ARTHUR Collins has been imprisoned for 20 years with an additional five years on licence after committing an acid attack carrying out an acid attack in a London nightclub.

The 25-year-old was convicted at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, over the April attack at the Mangle E8 club in Dalston, east London. Collins was declared liable of five counts of wounding with deliberate intention to carry out grievous bodily harm and nine counts of actual bodily harm.

Sentencing Collins, Judge Norel Lucas QC stated:  “You knew precisely what strong acid would do to human skin.

“It was deliberate and calculated and you were intent on causing really serious harm to your victims.”

Arthur Collins already had six preceding convictions, including of threatening language, possession of cocaine, drink-driving and violation. 6 victims experienced serious burn wounds. One of the victims Sophie Hall, stated: “Arthur showed no signs of remorse in court. I have to live with my scars for life.”

Victims whom were injured during the attack read impact statements to the court and conveyed of feeling “scared”, “traumatised” and “suicidal” as a consequence of the attack. For the duration of the victims’ statements, Collins hardly portrayed emotion.
