OASIS Academy Enfield celebrated it milestone 10th birthday, the first of todays 48 Oasis Schools across England it has been paving the way for success since it open back in September 2007 by the Oasis Founder and former UN advisor Steve Chalke who promised to ‘build a school that a community could be proud of’ which has done so as the thriving secondary school in North London has been judged good in all categories by Ofsted. To marked occasion the 10th October was a day of celebration, with its theme of 10 carrying on it held 10 events thought the day such as a memorable whole school picture, a gourmet a la carte meal cooked by a chef from Sodexo, fund raising and 30 very brave students abseiling down the schools wall.
The money collected during the day by the students and the charity abseil raised £1000, the contribution will be donated to their partner school in eastern Uganda paying for a teacher for the entire year.
Neil Hassell, the principal at Oasis Academy Enfield said “I am so proud to lead this school, and doubly so to be able to join the whole community in celebrating this marvellous milestone. Ten years represents over two thousand young people who have started their adult lives here and gone onto fantastic careers and valuable lives. Our motto Learning Together, Succeeding Together could not have more special meaning than it does today”
