Tottenham cemetery was cleaned by local volunteers

Tottenham Park Cemetery in Edmonton was tidied up by locals on last Sunday as a part of a social media campaign. The campaign that was started off on Facebook, invited lcoals  to tidy up and clean the privately owned cemetery to raise awareness that individuals are on responsibility to take care of the surroundings on the cemetery.

Filiz Pirgot, from the campaign, talked to Londra Gazete by sharing her remarks:

“I would just like to say, we thank everyone that turned up on Sunday to help clean the cemetery, we witnessed the coming together of the community . People came with weedkiller, brooms, shovels, gloves, bin bags and wheelbarrows. Some kind people even bought along refreshments. Until the new committee is formed and put into place to maintain the upkeep of the cemetery we hope more people from the community come along to future clean ups as we owe it to our family and friends that are laid to rest at Tottenham Park Cemetery that they rest in peace, in a clean, tidy and peaceful environment. I encourage everyone to join our facebook page Friends of Tottenham Park Cemetery for future clean up dates and to see our achievements and the ongoing difference we are making at the cemetery.”
