A panel that tackled Qatar under the name “Qatar in invasion”, took place at the Porticullis House of the House of Commons that discussed Qatar’s current situation as an outcast in its region.
Joined by Liberal Democrats’ Tom Break, International Law Specialist and SOAS lecturer Toby Cadman and journalist author Jonathan Fryer, the event tackled many issues challenging Qatar’s freedom of speech and democracy.
Since Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and Bahrain cut Diplomatic ties with Qatar, gave two-week deadline to Qatari nationals to leave and suspended access to air and naval transport borders, the event also referred to the events like Qatar being a unique and “contrarian” country compared to the rest of Middle East given its respect for human rights and investment for Western values.
Organised by Turkish Engagement and Development, the event addressed issues like the complications occurring in Middle East in the wake of repressing human rights.
