The annual refugee week of London saw many celebrations along with panels, seminars, trainings and performances that tackle refugees’ lives, obstacles, victories and stories all together.

Spread to the UK nationwide, the London part of the week comprised artistic events, talks and panels that tackled the hard lives of refugees and historic remarks that often defines significances of refugee lives.

As many events took place in central London, BFI Southbank hosted a series of talks and events on 24 June Saturday, tackling widely the lives of refugees who flee from Syria to Turkey, Europe, States and Canada.

A major art exhibition, previously on display in the Houses of Parliament, is to have its first showing outside London in the New Room in Broadmead for three weeks from 19 June to 9 July.

The exhibition entitled ‘I Am A Refugee’ has been developed by the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) and design agency Coley Porter Bell and celebrates the contributions of refugees past and present to life in the UK.

Groups at the BFI also came together to raise awareness towards refugee lives and governmental action.
