Mahmut Özdemir, director of the Turkish Religious Affairs UK shared an Eid message with the local press, stating the importance of Eid alongside the difficult times that not only Muslims around the world but everyone in general are going through.
Mr Özdemir, in his statement, said:
“Thankful to God, that we are again in celebration of approaching another Eid upon finishing the holy month Ramadan. İslam is the religion of friendship and togetherness – it is a belief that helps the one in need and enlightens the dark. Eids are the days when people, families come together and relish the enduring love and celebrate Islamic and humanist wonders all together.
“However today, we witness the dark times that Islam is trying to be left in dark aspirations and intentions through the hands of terror… As believers, we are bound to mend the broken hearts, help the ones in need and practice the plain Islam, which is set on friendship, togetherness and good-hearted intentions… I would like to thank this moment to wish everyone a happy Eid and hope this opens ways for a better and peaceful future.”
