Turkish journalist Levent Gültekin met Londoners

Famous Turkish journalist and author Levent Gültekin, met with London based readers as a part of a CHP-UK event.

As many people were seen at the event, upon receiving a high number questions on Kurdish and Alevi agendas, Mr Gültekin said “I did not come here to discuss these topics only – if I came here today it is because I want to tell you things. I would rather sit next to you and discuss these issues should you carry on asking only these topics.”

Stating that the country should always remain in solidarity, Mr Gültekin carried on his speech as follows:

“Our education system is a major problem – also the country is in shambles at the moment. Justice and court has been fallen, we all need to work together to enlighten this darkness, we don’t need any lectures, it is time to take action.”

“TIME TO UNIFY”

Mr Gültekin also remarked that the people of Turkey has to find a way to unify and be one regardless of their ethnical, religious or any other differences.

“The situation that our country has come to is lamentable and heart-breaking – the action that needs to be taken now relies upon making it possible to create a Turkey when people can freely say ‘us’ rather than ‘I’”

Mr Gültekin also said religion, as a deflected political tool in politics only damages societies and therefore the only salvation is to maintain secularism
