The Turkish-Kurdish Solidarity Centre Day-Mer, operating in LONDON, called for participation in the march against the ‘new police bill’ on Saturday, June 26.

For the action that will take place in front of the BBC, Day-Mer made the following statement:

“A wage freeze is imposed not only on health workers but also on those working in the public sector. Worse working conditions are imposed with the policy of ‘fire and rehire’. Moreover, while the number of unemployed has increased in this process, it is expected that many layoffs will occur in September when the furlough will end.  On top of all this, the government is quietly trying to pass the new police law through parliament this year. The right to protest will be dealt a major blow with the ‘New Police Law’, where the final debates will be held in the parliament this month, in June. With this law, the police will be given the authority to intervene more in protests, strikes and demonstrations. With this law, it is tried to prevent future strikes and demonstrations, social opposition and their reflection on the street. They are trying to instil fear with fines and prison sentences in the law. We cannot and cannot give up the right to protest, which is one of the important elements of democracy.’’

Date: Saturday, June 26

Protest time: Portland Place, W1A 1AA (BBC front)

Gathering Time: 12.00

Protest Start Time: 13.00

Meeting place and time for Day-Mer: 11:00 (London Community Centre-Tottenham N17) The march will begin in front of the BBC and the Parliament will end.
