Woman dies after being stabbed in the neck after dropping child off at school

A WOMAN was killed in Tottenham after being stabbed in broad daylight in front of horrified bystanders.

The woman was confronted by a man in Bruce Grove shortly after dropping her child off at school, local press reports said.

Police have not named the victim, who was pronounced dead when she reached hospital, was aged around 40 or 50.

One man was arrested at the scene.

Onlooker Sergio Fernandes, 21, told the Tottenham Journal he had arrived on the scene just after police arrived.

He said: “She was lying there with the knife still sticking out of her neck.”

A police statement said: “An investigation has been launched by detectives from Haringey assisted by colleagues from the Homicide & Major Crime Command.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

Local road closures are were in place and bus routes 123, 243 and W4 were diverted as a result.

Writing on Twitter, local MP David Lammy said: “My heart goes out to the family of woman stabbed in Tottenham today.

“Credit to passers by & emergency services for doing what they could.”
