Come Dine With Me in Turkish

Producers of Channel 4 show reach out to North London couples who can tell their kuru fasülye from their yoğurtlu ıspanak

The producers of the Channel 4 programme want Turkish couples in its future programmes

A POPULAR television programme has turned its sights on North London’s Turkish community to find more culinary talents.

Come Dine With Me, the Channel 4 show whose format has been sold around the world – including to Turkey – has been revamped to include a new twist: couples.

Until now episodes would feature four or five amateur chefs competing against each other hosting a dinner party for the other contestants. Each competitor then rates the host’s performance with the winner winning a £1,000 cash prize.

An element of comedy is added to the show through comedian Dave Lamb, who provides a dry and “bitingly sarcastic” narration.

The format has been taken up by many other broadcasters throughout the world, including Turkey’s Show TV which broadcast the show as “Yemekteyiz”.

In the programme’s latest incarnation, couples who believe they host “the best dinner parties in town” have been set the challenge of demonstrating the strength of their partnership in the kitchen.

Programme producers told Londra Gazete that they were especially interested in couples from Turkey who could rustle up some traditional Turkish or Kurdish dishes.

The programme is open to couples aged 18 or above. Anyone who believes they can compete against two other couples for a £1,000 cash prize are asked to contact Emma Leonce on 020 7157 4555 or emma.leonce@itv.com.
