h2p2

In the wake of mass arrests in Turkey, generally against the pro-Kurdish political party HDP MPs, Democratic Power Union UK gathered together at the North London Community Centre to launch a press conference, condemning the recent arrests against HDP in Turkey.

Taking place at the North London Turkish/Kurdish Community Centre on last Friday, the union read a press statement primarily condemning the actions held by Turkish government, by referring to the ongoing State of Emergency conditions. Tackling the State of Emergency, DPU stated the the recent actions by Turkish Government only embitters fascist intentions and has nothing to do with any democratic movement.

Referring to the media censorship as well, DPU condemned the recent shuttings of TV channels like Hayatın Sesi, TV 10, Van TV, Jiyan TV, Azadi TV and Zarog TV, the press statement said it is completely out of mind that democratically elected HDP MPs can be treated like culprits.

A SPECIAL CAMPAIGN IS DUE TO START

Later on the press statement, the spokesperson for the conference stated that now there is a new era has started off for the DPU, as the union is looking for local media and community unions to collaborate with, in order to raise awareness to the Kurdish rights.
