Under the theme Free Politics, North London’s Dominion Centre accommodated HDP’s co-president Selahatting Demirtaş for his speech on Turkey and freedom.
Taking place at Wood Green’s Dominion Centre, the event also welcomed successful Kurdish singers Mem Ararat, Özkan Orhan and Grup Bajar. Mr Demirtaş, in his speech tackled the latest bans and shuttings of some of the TV channels in Turkey by condemning them.
“Although we have been calling them to stop shutting our channels, they still are fighting for not being on the same channel with us. Instead of shutting our media come and be brave enough to broadcast with us, gol ive with us. We have no questions that can’t be answered. We are the ones who can only decide what we can wear, drink and how we live.
“I specifically would like to call upon our youth in London. You have to unite and work as a party. Your raised voice in London would also sooth our hearts. We are a famous nation with a famous will: getting back our stolen lands”
After Mr Demirtaş’ speech, Grup Bajar gave everyone a musical feast by playing traditional and cultural pieces.
