Ambiguity at CHP UK’s presidential election results

Hasan Dikme

Going for a general assembly, CHP UK had gone for an election process for its new president in middle October. The assembly that took place at the EPIC Dalston on 16 October was ended up with Hasan Dikme’s triumph as two of the candidates withdrew from the election.

The assembly wasn’t significant only for the election of its future president but also for the events it accommodated during the day. Davut Karataş, who was seen as one of the most powerful candidates declared that he would withdraw from the election, due to the inorganic growth of new members.

While Mr Dikme published a statement on his victory and the democratic aftermath of the election, his opponents and the previous board of members seemed to have thought the game may have been “rigged”

Dikme: CHP has won out

Mr Dikme said he is humbled for the trust and he shall be bringing his promises into action in no time.

“I would humbly like to thank everyone who has created a democratic feast at the presidential elections of CHP UK. From now on, our only focus will be CHP and thriving it to make a better and embracing union. Our common value is Turkey and Turkish people who resides in the UK. As promised, we shall be putting our thoughts into action to open a new office in London very soon as well.

Former president attaches annotation to the election

Former CHP UK President Suna Akartuna, on the other hand, published a press release reflecting upon the aftermath of the election, stating there may be “rigged” alterations in the nature of election.

“Due to the hundreds of membership applications which were not done in the desired way is utterly unfair for the existing and previous members. As this may cause an imbalance within our dynamics, I stated that I am putting an annotation to this election. I kindly would like to also state that this has no any relations against Mr Dikme’s candidacy and/or victory as I had announced my decision way before the results came out. I have now sent the relevant information to CHP’s headquarters in Turkey and we the final decision shall be revealing the prospective moves”
