Ottoman Turkish Courses will commence on Monday 17th October for beginners level and Wednesday 19th October 2016 for Intermediate level and will take place at Yunus Emre Institute – London, for once a week at 6:30pm – 8.30 pm. The level of the classes will be Beginners and Intermediate and the duration of the classes will be for 28 weeks, last day of classes will beWednesday 24th May 2017. Certificate ceremony will take place on the 31stof May at the centre. The classes will be conducted and taught by our experienced teacher Ms. Ayse Gokcen Yucel.
The course aims at introducing the student to the principles of Ottoman Turkish and to the texts written in this language. The course syllabus will include the reading and writing in Ottoman script. The fundamental principles of Turkish grammar and syntax will be frequently reviewed. The students will also be introduced to the Arabic and Persian elements incorporated into Ottoman Turkish. Another important aspect of this course is to familiarize the students with the use of dictionaries to solve problems encountered in the assigned texts. Intermediate level will be more reading-intensive.
At the end of the course the students will be awarded certificate of achievement. The courses require specific knowledge of Turkish language level of at least B2.
Students will need to pay a registration fee of £120 for the term. (The registration fee is £100 for previous students.) Please note that we except cash only on the day of registration.
