UETD commemorated 15 July martyrs

UETD (Union of European Turkish Democrats) UK branch held a commemoration event for the martyrs Turkey lost during the failed coup attempt night.

Taking place at the St. Stephens Community Centre of Islington, many political figures like AKP Trabzon MPs Ayşe Sula Köseoğlu and Adnan Günnar and Zonguldak MP Faruk Çaturoğlu, London Religious Affairs Head of Turkey Mahmur Özdemir, IHH UK joined to the event along with many other charities being present.

Performing a stand in silence followed by the Turkish National March and Quran chant, the event’s schedule carried on with a welcoming speech by UETD UK President Dr. Turhan Özen. Stating that Turkey and the Islam World has gone through such a traumatic phase during the attempted coup, Mr Özen recited verses from the full National Anthem on sovereignty and freedom.

“They (martyrs) have sacrificed their most precious value, their lives to leave a free World to the ones they left behind. It is our duty today to embalm their names and their sacrifices”

Speaking at the event, were UETD Youth Branches President Egemen Tezcan, Ihlara Charity President  Murat Koç, IHH UK President Ali Tahir, London Turkish Gazette reporter Egeman Arkut and UK Turkish Teachers Charity Mansur Işıkbol by tackling the 15 July coup attempt with before and post agenda commentaries.

A CALL TO EUROPE-BASED CITIZENS

AKP MPs that have attended to the event, also broke down the significance of citizens’ common will by remarking their susceptibility on the failed coup attempt.

Trabzon MP Mr Köseoğlu stated that currently the MPs are endeavouring to visit European countries to engage with Turkish communities there, willing to explain the 15 July’s post and pre agendas.
