Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) organised a breakfast event last Sunday bringing AKP Zonguldak MP Faruk Çaturoğlu.

Tackling the 15 July coup attempt, Faruk Çaturoğlu who is currently studying English in London talked about the past coup attempt and share experiences with the participants. Highlighting the fact that the true willpower of the Turkish nation defeated the discriminator deeds of FETO, Mr Çaturoğlu said “I hadn’t realised the situation’s significance until my fellow MP friends messaged me and until I saw the scenery on the Bosporus Bridge”

Tackling the coup history of Turkey from the Ottoman Empire era, Mr Çaturoğlu broke down the coup history of Turkey taken from the Ottoman Empire Sultan Abdülaziz’s era. Saying that the FETO organisation started to form after the 28 February 1997 coup (also known as the post-modern coup phase), FETO managed to popularise its reign by extending its schools in the country.

“The opposition party was maybe going to support the coup”

Mr Çaturoğlu also stated that the opposition parties had failed to react after the coup attempt. He said that the opposition parties only started to support the resistance towards the coup after seeing the willpower of hundreds of thousands of people marching down on the streets against the coup.
