Turnpike Lane shooting: Teenager fighting for life after being shot in the head

A teenager is fighting for life in hospital after he was shot in the head near a busy north London junction in Tuesday afternoon.

One local resident claimed the 18-year-old boy had been blasted with a gun in broad daylight as he sat in a car. London’s Air Ambulance landed on Turnpike Lane, near the junction with Wightman Road, just after 3.35pm.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene where they found the boy collapsed in Wightman Road with a gunshot injury to his head.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended and the man was taken to hospital.

He said: “We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and a Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene alongside London’s Air Ambulance.”

There have been no arrests so far and the area was cordoned off following the shooting.

The Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command have been informed and are now investigating.

One resident wrote on Facebook: “Apparently someone has been shot in Wightman Road N8.
