Turkish and Syrians met for solidarity

In the event of the failed military coup attempt against the democratically elected government in Turkey, the Syrian community And UETD (Union of European Turkish Democrats held a gathering in West London, to hold the event with the presence of both communities in West London on the 24th of July 2016 at Peter Channels Hall.

The event started off with the Turkish and Syrian National Anthems and then carried on to tackling the current situation in Turkey and Syria. Sending prayers to those who lost their lives in the coup attempt, Turkish Republic London Ambassador Abdurrahman Bilgiç made a speech on the current agenda of Turkey. Mr Bilgiç said “The unfortunate events that unfolded in Turkey last week shall never be forgotten in history. Orchestrated by the FETÖ terrorist group, these people tried to corrupt our military forces, took over the national TV channel and bombed our Parliamentary. I would like to thank everyone, who resisted this failed coup attempt. In the aftermath of the failed coup attempt, Turkey’s political partied joined forces to condemn the recent news and inteferences. Turkey is one of the world’s most generous countries, we have always felt easy for Syrian agendas and opened our doors to help our Syrian friends. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who came here today to celebrate our democracy”.

“FREEDOM AND PEACE SHALL LEAD IN SYRIA”

Following Mr Bilgiç’s speech, UETD President Dr Turhan Ozen said “I find Turkish and Syrian fellowship very significant for the future of both countries. I pray for both countries for them to escape from their problematic agenda and thrive for peace. I do believe we can live with peace and solidarity. On the night of the coup attempt, when we met by the BBC building here in London, many Syrian friends came over and supported us.”Dr Muhammed Najjar, who is a representative from the “Freedom and Peace for Syria” charity, said “I find myself very fortunate to be with my fellow Turkish friends. As representatives from both countries, in such sad days it is vital to hold on to each other and work for a better future.”
