A man who is thought to be a shopkeeper had his throat “slashed” at a south London off-licence 

Blood was seen splattered on the flood of the shop after the attack in Stockwell Road, Brixton, just before noon.

Emergency services rushed to the store at 11.55am after reports of the stabbing. London’s Air Ambulance also landed nearby.

Police say they found a man, aged in his 30s, suffering from a stab wound to his neck.

He was taken to a south London hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. His condition is not yet known

A Twitter account for the nearby Blue Star House office block tweeted: “Rumour has it someone slashed the throat of a shop keeper on Stockwell Rd – #Horrendous”

Officers cordoned off the shop this afternoon as they carried out their enquiries.

Following the incident, a 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is currently being quizzed by detectives at a south London police station.
