After the election of Enfield’s current mayor Cllr Bernadette Lappage, during her year as Mayor there will be a yearlong festival of music launching on Friday 27th May called Enfield Sounds Great.
The aim of the festival is to raise awareness of the benefits that music making brings to the lives of people throughout our community. During the year we will be raising money for the Mayor’s Charity which will be aimed at providing opportunities for local people to engage in Music. Tackling the festival’s prospective plans, Enfield Council met with local schools last Monday to discuss opportunities and ways to engage with Enfield’s young music scene. During the meeting, students from Enfield colleges gave a musical feast to the guests.
Mayor Lappage, in her speech stated how she is grateful to be leading such an enterprise and looking forward to seeing the talent flows through the youth, along with presenting and inviting more professional musicians in to the London Borough of Enfield.
