Union of Turkish and English Democrats (UETD) organised its traditional iftar meal at the Turkish Religious Charity’s hall.
Attending to the iftar, were Turkey’s Ambassador Abdurrahman Bilgiç, Consul General Emirhan Yorulmazlar, UETD President Dr Turhan Özen and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor lawyer Özlem Zengin.
WE SHALL HAVE A TURKISH PRESIDENT ONE DAY
Speaking at the event, the President of UETD, Dr Özen said he anticipates seeing Turkish democrats having their sayings at the English Parliament soon. Özen said “There are many precious young people here with us today fulfilling their dreams to become a prominent part of English and also Turkish political scene. You can be sure that there will be people who can be presidents of the UK here”. By also tacking Ramadan’s significance as a month of sharing, working and striving to be our best version ever.
As a sponsor of the meal, Sofra Restaurants’ founder Hüseyin Özer said “Ramadan is my favourite month. It is the month of realising how sharing and togetherness are a big part of our lives”.
SPECIAL GUEST: ACTOR MURAT YILDIRIM
Famous actor Murat Yıldırım was also amongst the special guests at the iftar. In his speech, Yıldırım delivered his gratitude for being at an iftar meal which doesn’t know borders or boundaries and just appreciates being human. Yıldırım also said: “Loving a Turkish means loving a country – I couldn’t respect you more for establishing such a strong bond all the way away from Turkey, and this makes you special, this makes Ramadan extra special”.
Turkish PM’s chief advisor Özlem Zengin also mentioned her thankfulness in her speech, by tackling how Ramadan is the best month to re-remember honestly and wholeness is everything. “Our PM is devastated because of the Syrian refugee crisis we are facing, Turkish political agenda is boiling but we are used to that, thanks everyone for providing this remarkable evening” says Zengin in her speech.
Following the speaks, the special dua and prayers were carried on and the fasts got broken.
