From distinguished doctors, the conference accommodated topics in panic attack, anxiety, pregnancy, ache information, depression and neurology.
On the 21st of May, many distinguished health specialists led an interactive series of conferences in their specialties, which caused a big interest amongst the guests. Psychiatrist Dr. Yenal Dundar, in his opening speech tackled how anxiety and depression have become a major part of our lives – almost acknowledging that anxiety is an inevitable consequence of our everyday lives. When tackling anxiety, some of the guests also shared their own experiences by saying their anxieties are very often for them to experience. Dr. Dundar suggested mindful thinking and psychotherapy, and stated medical drug use should only be the last choice for such cases.
Dr. Zehra Yılmaz, from King’s College London then led the discussion towards “body aches” by differentiating the difference between biological pains and emotional pains by also stating that emotional aches could lead to massive biological pain collapses, in such cases a true and accurate treatment must be exercises.
Following the discussions Dr. Pınar Uysal-Onganer tackled cancer types and the commonness of it by giving relevant examples and talking to the guests in person. Dr. Berrin Tezcan, on the other hand answered guests’ questions on pregnancy and obesity in person.

ATHPA is a non-profit organisation registered on 5th September 2011 in the UK and celebrated their first year of foundation on the 12 October 2012 at House of Lords. It is the British Arm of ATSEF (The European Federation of Turkish Healthcare Professionals) and together with the equivalent associations in Germany, France, Austria, Holland and Cyprus ATSEF has recently been registered in Berlin. ATHPA was initiated by the UK ATSEF Official Dr. Muge Herrewegh-Trak, who campaigned diligently for 10 years and is committed to improve the positions of Turkish speaking healthcare professionals and patients in Europe. ATHPA is a young organisation, but has been very active on various fronts, such as supporting and guiding healthcare professionals with diplomas from Turkey, organising health advice days and seminars for the Turkish population, compiling a Turkish healthcare professional’s directory, producing patient information leaflets and promoting research. ATHPA has been supported by the T.C. London Embassy and the Consulate, as well as Baroness Meral Hussein-Ece. ATHPA invites healthcare professionals from all backgrounds to work together to achieve these goals.
