Turkey’s social media feed is bursting with an Ankara based gynecologist Cuneyt Genc’s hompphobic Facebook shares against an openly gay man client. The incident rapidly became a trending topic on Twitter and Eksisozluk.

After the avalanche on social media against the doctor, Genc deleted his post and wrote a status regarding the reasons by saying:

“Facebook is asking what I am thinking about, I can see that in Turkey there are quite a lot of gays and gay-symphatizans who are asking for positive discrimination towards gays. I have erased my post but it is not because I was afraid or anything, to protect and keep my friends, family to be a part of this. They even have called me from Amnesty International – I forgive them. What an attackers!”

We would also like to note it down that Dr. Genc wrote this in an intense daily-slang way, which has caused another tension and questioning on his sincerity.

Many people in Turkey, stated that the doctor should be dealt by the Turkish Chamber of Medical Doctors (Turk Tabipler Odası), by inviting people to openly report him to the Chamber due to his actions which are clearly against hypocrite vow that includes strict limitations to clients’ privacy and discrimination against clients. There were also supporters of Dr. Genc, saying that it is strange that the male client’s choice to go to a gynecologist is odd.

Dr. Genc had shared a picture of a cross-dressed male client by adding a caption on the picture saying “I don’t care! I also want to be treated by Dr. Genc!” with also another caption on the post saying “People find kittens by their doors in the morning, we woke up to this!”
