Mustafa Akıncı to visit London in April

Now that UN-brokered Cyprus peace talks have entered a crucial phase, Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci plans to visit couple of strategic towns in the hope for making a progress in the peace talks. The cities are Berlin, London, and Istanbul in April, Turkish Cypriot press reports said on Monday.

Akinci will be heading to Istanbul on April 6 and 7, at the invitation of the Social and Strategic Institute of Marmara.

His next stop is Berlin, on April 11 and 13, at the invitation of the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

At the end of April, or early to mid May, Akinci plans to visit  London at the invitation of British Minister of Foreign Affairs Philip Hammond. Although the exact day is unknown. It’s known from the governmental sources that the British minister had invited Akıncı to London in his previous two visits. As a response to the invitation, Akıncı will pay a visit to London, to discuss Cyprus and peace strategies about the divided island.

The exact date of his visit will be announced at a later date.
