Imprisonment of the Cypriot business man

 

28 A Cypriot bussines-man was prosecuted after delaying to pay his pound 207k debt.

After 2007, businessman Charalambos Hadjiharalambous stopped paying the taxes scheduled upon his small enterprise. After an investigation, police officers figured out that there were enterprises which weren’t even registered to HMRC. HMRC authority commented on the exposed tax fraud: “ Paying taxes is a legal obligation. Fortunately, such misbehaviours are rare in England. People like Charambos are exceptional. We hope that this incident proves our sensitivity about this issue.”

After the trial which taken place on 16th of March, the businessman is imprisoned for 18 months. This punishment is not the first one for Charalambos, he was arrested back in 2013 as a result of a similar tax fraud.
