Number of zero-hours contracts nears one million

According to a recent article published in Independent, zero hours contract issue is a controversial topic that has not been successfully settled yet.

This system is based on the job provider to employ the workers without guaranteeing them strict working hours and demanding availability when needed. This system of employability has been in steady rise since 2011 and ever since is a hot topic of discussion. While providing flexibility for the employer, zero hours contracts creates an insecurity for the employee. President of the workers’ union Frances O’Grady pointed out the dilemma, which benefits the job provider while leaving the workers worse off. This he claimed provides no guarantee for the employee which also means no stable income.
