UETD decided on their new president

Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) held their fifth assembly. Zafer Sırakaya got elected as a president thanks to the majority of delegates’ support. The assembly gathered on 28th of February in Köln(Cologne). Sarıkaya was a representative of AKP in Brussels. As a result of the election he took over the presidency form Süleyman Celik who had been leading the Union since 2013.

More than 450 delegates as well as a big crowd of press and invited guests followed the assembly. Leading figures in Turkish politics showed up among whom were cabinet ministers.

After Zafer Sarıkaya was officially acknowledged as a president, he made a speech expressing his gratitude and explaining his future plans to carry the UETD banner further which was made possible thanks to the generosity of past generations. As he put it:

“Let this election be an advantageous one for all Turkish citizens living abroad.”

The guests all agreed about the proficiency of the new president. The president of UETD UK Dr. Turhan Ozen commented on the election results: We were glad to be hosted in such a professional event. We thank all the delegates living in Koln for their hospitality.
