Turkish Women’s Philanthropic Association of England (TWPA) celebrated mothers’ and mothers to bes’ Mother’s day with a dinner event.
As a union that has never stopped working for Turkish speaking communities, TWPA didn’t skip mothers. Amongst the participants, were Turkish Republic London ambassador Mr Abdurrahman Bilgiç’s wife Esra Bilgiç, Chief Consul Mr Emirhan Yorulmazlar’s wife Ayşegül Yorulmazlar, Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic London 2nd secretary Dilşad Şenol along with tens of organisations and individual attenders. The event that has accommodated over 100 participants took place at Grand Palace in Wood Green, London.
Sinem Arıca, the president of TWPA welcomed all the guests by the entrance and opened the ceremony with her speech by saying “We are proud to be one of the first Turkish oriented charities of the UK. We have been responsible on serving for Turkish speaking communities by conveying your helps to Turkey and Northern Cyprus territories. I am so proud to be a president of such a powerful organisation.” By also adding that she had a life threat whilst she was in labour, she mentioned that all of the troubles she had gone through during her pregnancy meant nothing after holding her baby. After Sinem Arıca, poet Neslihan Çakır came on to the stage and read one of her dedicated poems live, which brought the room in to tears. , Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic London 2nd secretary Dilşad Şenol tackled the significance of the day by saying “This is only of the normal days that we can express our gratitude to the lovely mothers. However this shouldn’t be remembered on just one day and should be turned into a habit as having happy mothers mean happy kids, who will lead us to a brighter future”. The night also comprised another speech by Turkish Republic London ambassador Mr Abdurrahman Bilgiç’s wife Esra Bilgiç, expressed her feelings by saying “I wish you all a happy mother’s day, these days like this also slightly pains inside for me as one of kids study in Ankara, and I am sure you know how it feels to be torn apart from the ones you love, especially if they are your children. Days like this work as a sentimental reminder to all this as well, unfortunately.”
The ceremony carried on with an awards ceremony and ended with famous showman Kerem Ergen’s performance.
