A film about Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has began its period of filming in a small North Cyprus town.
A small seaside town in cyprus has been turned into a mini 1950s Kasimpasa, the town in Istanbul where Mr. Erdogan spent his younger years. The film crew said that a seaside town was chosen deliberately, for it represents the original state of 1950 Kasimpasa; the roads surrounding the set have been closed to traffic while restoration continues.
The struggle to find the right person for the role of R.Tayyip Erdogan has persisted: Over 200 people auditioned for the role, as the typecasting process goes on; the specifity of the role makes it ever harder to type cast the right person; Betuhan Gurel will be playing the president as a child; Ozlem Balci will take up the role as Erdogan’s wife, Emine Erdogan.
The cast includes: Bayraktar, Abidin Yerebakan, Orhan Aydın, Ali Yaylı, Alper Türedi, Aydan Çakır, İsmail Hakkı, Volkan Başaran, Yener Gürsoy ve Ercan Demirel.
